What this role is

Senior supervisor overseeing survey and mapping crews and processes supporting oil and gas project planning and land management. At the Manager II (M2) level, the role owns an established team or sub-function, cross-project coordination and priorities, and drives group delivery and development. Manages a team; sometimes manages leads.

What this level does

  • Manages a skilled team of GIS analysts and/or junior supervisors delivering buffer-overlay and pattern analysis for urban planning, environmental, and transportation projects
  • Owns tactical outcomes for multiple concurrent mapping tasks, making judgments on resourcing and sequencing within known project factors
  • Coordinates cross-functionally with engineers, project managers, and data processors to align spatial deliverables with downstream needs
  • Reviews custom Python/FME automation tools built by the team and enforces QA standards across mapping deliverables
  • Develops team members' geoprocessing and database management competencies and reviews their spatial analysis for methodological soundness
Knowledge applied
Applies deeper geospatial analysis and automation knowledge to lead a skilled team; makes judgments within known project factors.
Complexity & problem solving
Judgments on resourcing and analysis approach within familiar spatial-project parameters.
Collaboration & interaction
Cross-functional cooperation with engineers, project managers, and data processors.
