- Lead multiple mining operations, divisions or the combined production, maintenance and technical-services functions of a large site through VPs and General Managers (E1–E2)
- Set cross-functional operational strategy that balances production throughput, unit cost, maintenance reliability and safety, resolving abstract high-consequence trade-offs across concurrent mining fronts
- Own the operating model and P&L for a significant business unit, interpreting operational data to improve commercial outcomes and understanding how production and digital systems drive margin and risk
- Negotiate critical matters — major contractor agreements, capital reallocation, statutory undertakings — with top leaders, where decisions can impact the viability of the business unit
- Manage both operational and reputational risk, ensuring ESG and safety performance across the portfolio protects the license to operate
