What this role is

Executive who directs enterprise-wide lean manufacturing strategy, accelerating the path from product design to high-volume production across all business units. At the Senior Director (Executive) (E2) level, the role owns multiple functions or a major area, multi-function strategy and risk, and drives major-area outcomes. Leads function leaders.

What this level does

  • Lead multiple manufacturing functions or divisions through VPs, integrating Lean operating-system deployment across several sites so that Value Stream, material-flow and workplace-organization standards are consistent enterprise-wide.
  • Own cross-functional operational-excellence strategy where decisions can impact company viability — e.g., multi-plant network re-layout, capacity expansion, and large-scale line/plant commissioning programs.
  • Negotiate critical manufacturing-capability commitments with top company leaders and key customers, translating Lean maturity into cost, delivery and quality guarantees at scale.
  • Direct the development of Lean/Six Sigma talent pipelines and Black-Belt capability across divisions, mentoring VPs and senior engineers to sustain continuous improvement without central intervention.
  • Set the standards and technical direction that shape how the organization approaches manufacturing overall, resolving abstract, high-consequence trade-offs between throughput, quality and cost across the division.
Knowledge applied
Applies cross-functional operational-excellence knowledge across multiple sites/divisions, setting the standards and technical direction for how the organization manufactures.
