Experienced individual contributor who leads lean process design and implementation to accelerate a product's path from design into high-volume manufacturing. At the Senior Professional (P4) level, the role owns a system or set of related features, devises new approaches, and drives multi-team / function outcomes. Technical lead for focused efforts; mentors several.

What this level does

  • Lead complex, multi-line lean improvement programs — production line start-ups, new product introductions and cell redesigns — selecting the appropriate lean methods and analyzing complex trade-offs across throughput, quality and cost
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across production, quality, maintenance and supply chain, engaging stakeholders to secure adoption of new lean practices at plant scale
  • Mentor junior and mid-level lean engineers, reviewing their event plans and root cause analyses, and may lead a project team of engineers and technicians
  • Use advanced DOE, statistical analysis and Six Sigma tools to resolve entrenched process capability problems that span multiple interacting operations
