- Assemble, disassemble, monitor and repair piping to keep the drilling area in good working order, and clean, scrape and paint the drilling deck and equipment under close direction
- Assist the drilling crew with inserting and extracting drill pipe, off-loading supplies, and using lifting equipment during rig operations
- Walk flow lines and check for leaks visually and with electronic detectors, repair leaks, and clean up spilled oil to avoid soil and water contamination
- Assist with mixing chemicals and drilling mud, and help repair equipment on the drill and drilling platform following standard instruction
- Follow prescribed safety standards and report equipment or wellsite hazards to senior crew members
