Senior individual contributor who collects, processes, and interprets earth-science field and laboratory data to support resource exploration and management decisions. At the Senior Professional (P4) level, the role owns a system or set of related features, devises new approaches, and drives multi-team / function outcomes. Technical lead for focused efforts; mentors several.
What this level does
- Take responsibility for developing, conducting, implementing, and evaluating complex geological investigations, independently selecting approaches and methodologies within program standards
- Perform in-depth analysis of complex geological, geophysical, and geochemical variables — integrating seismic, well, and surface data — to resolve interpretation ambiguities with functional impact on exploration decisions
- Serve as lead worker over lower-level geoscience employees: assigning and reviewing work, preparing technical recommendations, and providing guidance and training
- Select and configure interpretation and modeling workflows (2D/3D seismic interpretation, attribute analysis, velocity modeling) and validate outputs against field ground-truth
- Coordinate across drilling, survey, and data-management groups to ensure investigation results are integrated into project deliverables
