At the Mid-Level Professional (P3) level, the role owns features or a sub-system end-to-end, adapts existing approaches, and drives project / team outcomes. Mentors juniors informally.
What this level does
- Plan and execute geological investigations of diverse scope with day-to-day independence, selecting field acquisition and processing approaches from within established program guidelines
- Build geological models and interpretations from field and instrument data using tools such as Geosoft Oasis montaj, RockWorks, or Petra, evaluating identifiable factors to reach defensible conclusions
- Coordinate acquisition activities across a field program — sequencing sampling, geophysical surveys, and data ingestion — and reconcile discrepancies between datasets
- Prepare technical maps, sections, and summary reports (ArcGIS, Surfer, Adobe Illustrator) that communicate interpretations to project leads
- Network with senior geoscientists to validate methodology choices and calibrate interpretation against known site geology

- Applies broad geoscience and software knowledge (Oasis montaj, RockWorks, Petra, ArcGIS) to build models and interpretations across diverse investigations.
