What this role is
An experienced individual contributor who provides advanced analytical and technical support to senior mining operations leadership. At the Lead Support Specialist (S4) level, the role owns team process and quality, cross-case patterns and process gaps, and drives team-level quality and efficiency. Mentors and coordinates the support team.
What this level does
- Adapts survey, inspection and reporting methods for unfamiliar or unprecedented site conditions — new pit geometry, novel equipment, or degraded data — where standard procedure does not fit
- Resolves a wide variety of non-routine conflicts across data collection, maintenance scheduling and compliance reporting, recommending new approaches when readings imply a developing problem
- Owns the integrity of production and compliance data pipelines through the fleet-management systems, reconciling anomalies and determining corrective methods
- Acts as working lead for less-experienced technicians on complex field or maintenance assignments, informally guiding their methods and reviewing their outputs
- Interprets the implications of trends in operational and environmental data and proposes process adjustments to senior operations staff
- Knowledge applied
- Extensive detailed knowledge of mining-operations procedures and their administration, enough to adapt them in unprecedented site situations.
- Complexity & problem solving
- Understands the implications of anomalous data and equipment findings; resolves a wide variety of non-routine situations and recommends new solutions.
- Collaboration & interaction
- May informally guide and review the work of less-experienced technicians as a working lead; liaises with senior operations staff on findings.
- Typical experience
- 4–6 years; advanced mining-operations support experience.
