What this level does

  • Leads a complete geology sub-function through Directors, setting the functional strategy and standards for field studies, sampling and data-collection protocols, aerial-photograph and rock-sample analysis, and laboratory analyses that govern how deposits are located and their size estimated across the unit's projects.
  • Owns the technical quality and defensibility of interpretive outputs — desk studies, interpretative reports, technical papers, and geologic models built in tools such as ArcGIS, Surfer, gINT, and GSI3D / INSIGHT SubsurfaceViewer MX — ensuring resource conclusions delivered to clients and internal decision-makers withstand scrutiny.
  • Sets OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, CPR/First Aid, and field-safety expectations across all field crews, holding the line on compliant sampling and data-collection practice as a condition of operating.
  • Interfaces with other executives and major clients to translate geological and geophysical findings into project decisions, representing the geology function in technical scoping and review forums and communicating conclusions to both scientists and nonscientists.
  • Builds and develops the Director/manager layer, staffing the mix of fieldwork, data-interpretation, and modeling capability the sub-function needs to meet project demand.

Applies deep, detailed knowledge of geology practice — field methods, aerial-photo and rock-sample analysis, sampling/data-collection protocols, laboratory analyses, and geologic modeling — as functional strategy, setting the standards Directors execute against rather than performing the interpretation personally.
