At the Staff / Distinguished Professional (P7) level, the role owns cross-organization / enterprise technical strategy, industry-level, highly ambiguous problems, and drives enterprise-wide. - Lead forensic analysis of major mine failures or underperformance — finding the 'cause behind the cause' behind slope failures, dilution or schedule collapse — and use it to redirect practice
- Persuade and educate executives, boards, regulators and industry peers on strategic mine-engineering priorities, overturning entrenched conventional wisdom where the evidence demands
- Operate with complete independence, defining what is required rather than solving pre-set problems, and mentoring principal engineers while shaping company-wide and industry capability
