At the Principal Support Specialist (S5) level, the role owns function-wide support practice, program-level and systemic support problems, and drives support strategy across the function.   • Contributes to the creation of new setup, changeover, and inspection procedures and standard work within a specialty area (e.g., a specific CNC/PLC cell or process family), documenting them for adoption across shifts.
  • Resolves the plant's most complex process-support problems — intermittent, multi-cause faults spanning program, mechanical, material, and MRP-data factors — that others cannot, developing repeatable techniques from the resolution.
  • Serves as the facilitating working lead for the technician group on major initiatives such as New Product Introduction ramps and line reconfigurations, coordinating execution while engineers own the design.
  • Develops the data-collection methods, fixtures, and check routines that feed process-capability and lean-improvement studies, ensuring measurements are valid and repeatable.
  • Provides authoritative guidance and hands-on training to technicians and newer engineers on the plant's equipment, software workflows, and procedural knowledge in the area of expertise.
