What this role is
Senior individual contributor who provides expert analysis and strategic guidance on store operations performance across the entire company. At the Expert Professional (P5) level, the role owns multiple systems or a technical domain, establishes the approach, and drives org / multi-team outcomes. Leads cross-team technical initiatives.
What this level does
- Oversees the operational performance of multiple stores across a region or brand as a Senior Retail Operations Manager, driving consistency of standards and execution across locations.
- Develops and deploys regional strategies to achieve area goals, acting with significant autonomy over merchandising, staffing, and local marketing direction across the portfolio.
- Holds full profit-and-loss responsibility for a group of stores, reallocating labor and inventory investment across locations to maximize regional return.
- Builds influential relationships with store general managers and cross-functional partners (supply chain, HR, marketing) to resolve systemic operational barriers.
- Diagnoses performance variance across stores using intangible as well as quantitative signals, then designs and rolls out repeatable operating playbooks that lift the weaker locations.
- Knowledge applied
- Applies strategic multi-store operating expertise, translating company objectives into regional execution and reading intangible signals of store health.
- Complexity & problem solving
- Works on broad, strategic problems across a portfolio with high independence, designing repeatable operating playbooks rather than one-off fixes — improving weaker stores at the boundary of current practice.
- Collaboration & interaction
- Builds influential networks across store GMs and functional leaders; acts as a spokesperson for regional operations.
- Typical experience
- 12+ years, extensive multi-unit retail operations leadership.
