At the Developing Professional (P2) level, the role owns defined deliverables / small features, applies established patterns, and drives own and immediate-team deliverables. May guide interns.
What this level does
- Adjust controls to position control rods and regulate flux level, reactor period, coolant temperature and rate of power flow following standard procedures under general instruction
- Move control rods and start and stop equipment as a licensed reactor operator during routine day-shift operations
- Control and adjust the amount of power being generated and the reactor coolant temperature as power demands change through the day
- Implement emergency procedures when directed, executing the prescribed operator actions promptly and accurately
- Conduct field inspections and operations outside the control room and record findings

- Applies licensed reactor operator knowledge to conventional control manipulations — rod positioning, flux and coolant-temperature regulation — within defined procedures.

- — Dispatches orders and instructions to auxiliary and field personnel via radiotelephone or intercommunication systems to coordinate equipment operation during evolutions.

- — Oversees the control panel and overall unit operation, directing and supervising reactor operators through routine and off-normal evolutions.
- Regulatory Compliance (NRC)
